One of my favorite thing to eat growing up was Sloppy Joe’s. This Korean Sloppy Joe recipe puts a bit of Asian flavors to the traditional style plus a bit of smoke from the smoker.
Ingredients
4 HAMBURGER BURGER BUNS
2 GARLIC CLOVES, MINCED
2 LBS GROUND BEEF
1 TBSP OLIVE OIL
1/2 CUP HOISIN SAUCE
1/2 CUP KETCHUP
2 TBSP RICE VINEGAR
2 SCALLIONS, SLICED THIN
1 TBSP SESAME OIL
1 TBSP BBQ RUB (your favorite)
2 TSP SRIRACHA HOT SAUCE
2 TBSP SOY SAUCE
1/3 CUP WATER
Preparation
First, fire up your smoker up to 400° F.
-Place cast iron skillet on grill grates and allow to preheat for about 5-10 mins and then add olive oil.
-Add lean ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, then add in the garlic, sesame oil, your favorite bbq seasoning rub, ketchup, hoisin, water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha. Stir occasionally for 5 minutes, until the sauce starts to thicken.
-Once sauce start to thicken, remove skillet from the grill, next lightly grill the hamburger buns.
-Next, serve Korean Sloppy Joe mixture warm on grilled bun, topped w/ scallions, & a slice of pepper jack cheese.
Guess what, it's eatin time!!!
